
Administrative Officer - Public Engagement & Advocacy Pieta is a not-for-profit organisation based in Ireland providing care to those impacted by suicidal ideation, self-harm and those bereaved by suicide. The charity provides a comprehensive range of prevention, intervention and postvention services through its network of centres across the country, remotely via phone and video and its 24/7 helpline. In addition, Pieta provides a suicide-bereavement liaison service. Location: Remote- occasional travel required Position Type: Permanent Contract: 35 hours per week over 5 days (Mon – Fri, 9am-5pm) Salary: €40,000 - €45,000 About the role: At present, Pieta relies heavily on the public’s generosity to enable it to continue providing its life-saving services to individuals, families and communities across Ireland. A key focus of the work of the Advocacy and Public Engagement Team in 2023 involves engaging with a variety of statutory and non-statutory stakeholders to highlight the extent of Pieta’s service delivery and advocate for sustainable resourcing to ensure we can continue to always be there for those who need us. The Advocacy and Public Engagement Team sits within Pieta’s Finance and Operations Team; however the role requires engagement across the organisation, particularly with the Clinical Team and Executive Management Team. Responsibilities: As Administrative Officer you will provide essential support to the Advocacy & Public Engagement team as well as the wider Operations team. You will be responsible for providing support on programme activities and initiatives including but not limited to analysing clinical data, developing business plans, producing informed briefing materials and presentations. A list of key responsibilities is outlined below:
Analyse and review clinical data to provide insights for service development, business planning and external engagement
Arrange, prepare materials and support in briefing colleagues including HSE, NOSP, Oireachtas members and other key stakeholders
Identify opportunities for development and capacity building on established programmes and services offered by Pieta in line with “Connecting for Life” and “Sharing The Vision” policies
Support the management of relationships with key stakeholders
Monitoring updates, news, new policies, developments and events in the suicide and self-harm / mental health services sector, condensing information, assessing potential implications for Pieta and informing the team where relevant
Provide necessary support and guidance as required on projects to maximise their effectiveness
Update Manager and stakeholders in tracking the progress of work to ensure schedules and deadlines are being met
Generate reports, information materials, proposals and presentations to support engagement
Skills & Experience required:
Third-level qualification or equivalent
Experience in the community or voluntary sector is desirable but not required
Awareness of relevant and appropriate legislation, statutory regulations and publications in the area of mental health
Experience in the preparation of professional documents and presentations thereby demonstrating proficiency in use of MS Word, Excel and Power Point
Ability to analyse data, interpret findings, discern implications, draw conclusions, and make recommendations
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
Strong communication skills with the ability to develop relationships internally and with external stakeholders
