Merchants Quay Ireland: Digital Marketing Officer


Job Title: Digital Marketing Officer Reports to: Fundraising Coordinator Department: Fundraising & Communications Objective: The successful candidate will be responsible for developing content for MQI’s social media channels and managing paid digital fundraising efforts. This role is a key contributor to our overall digital fundraising programme. Main Duties/Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end digital marketing campaigns, including fundraising appeals, newsletters, and virtual challenges.

  • Strategise, develop, and analyse all MQI’s social media efforts in accordance with fundraising objectives (across Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn).

  1. Create strategies for ad campaigns, develop ad collateral, monitor, and optimise ads based on budget, and create review documents, taking learnings into future campaigns.

  2. Manage Google Ads campaigns effectively to maximize results.

  3. Deploy best practices in copywriting and design to bring our client stories to life online.


  • Cultivate relationships with digital marketing suppliers (including web developers, and digital agencies), ensuring alignment with MQI objectives and tracking against KPIs.

  • Support email marketing campaigns related to digital fundraising activities.

  • Monitor and report on digital fundraising campaigns, ensuring KPIs are met.

  1. Design and maintain digital dashboards and prepare monthly performance reports on Google Analytics.

  2. Provide insights and context for digital reporting documents to support decisionmaking.

  3. Use reporting and analysis to monitor and optimise the programme, and keep colleagues and management informed.


  • Assist in maintaining and updating site content via WordPress and optimising SEO.

  • Work closely with the wider Donor Care, Fundraising and Communications teams to optimise the response management from digital fundraising efforts.

  • Maintain awareness and understanding of relevant developments within the wider homeless and addiction sectors.

  • Undertake other duties as may be required from time to time.

Experience & Qualifications: The ideal candidate for this post will have:

  • Minimum 1 year of social media management experience, preferably in the non-profit sector or within a fundraising team.

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Communication, or a related field.

  • Proficiency in Google Analytics to analyse website traffic, user behaviour and conversions.

  • High proficiency in core digital marketing platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn), with experience in managing budgets and achieving ROI goals.

  • Experience with Google Ads and a proven record of managing Google Ads campaigns effectively.

  • Experience in managing Meta Ads Manager

  • Experience working with a CMS, preferably WordPress.

  • Proficiency in graphic design/video editing, specifically with Canva or Adobe.

  • Up-to-date knowledge of digital marketing trends and best practices.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Robust, confident, ‘can-do’ attitude that thrives on challenges and remains calm under pressure.
