Irish Red Cross Society: Receptionist (Job Sharing)


Title: Receptionist (Job Sharing) (9.00 am to 1.00 pm Tuesday to Friday / Full day Monday 9:00am – 5:00pm)

Duration: 2 Year Fixed Term

Salary: €26,000- €33,000 pro rata

Reporting to: PA to the Secretary General

To promote the Irish Red Cross as an organisation worthy of support by providing an efficient, effective and friendly reception service to both staff and members of the public including, for example, donors, members, journalists, refugees/asylum seekers, delegates and suppliers.


  • To greet and receive all visitors to the office, directing them to their required destination.

  • To answer and filter all external telephone calls and redirect appropriately.

  • Manage and ensure that the public calendar is updated daily.

  • Manage meeting room bookings.

  • To receive any couriers and redirect deliveries.

  • Organise taxis & couriers.

  • Provide back-up secretarial and administrative support when required.

  • Ensure that the reception area is kept tidy at all times.

  • Work actively towards the achievement of the Irish Red Cross goals.

  • Undertake training and development as required

  • Abide by and uphold the Principles of the International Red Cross Red Crescent Movement.

  • Undertake any other reasonable work-related duties and responsibilities assigned by the relevant line manager that are consistent with the nature of the job and level of responsibility.


Essential Criteria

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft office suite.

  • Confident and positive outlook in dealing with people.

  • Excellent organisational skills.

  • Ability to multitask and prioritise tasks.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience working in the not for profit sector.

  • Certification in Microsoft Office.
