Focus Ireland: Catering Assistant - Dublin


Catering Assistant, Dublin Contract: Specific Purpose Contract, Part Time (30 Hours) Location: Coffee shop, 15 Eustace Street Dublin 2 To provide food and service to FI coffee shop clients as part of the catering team in Open access. What you will do:

  • To assist in setting up procedure of the kitchen prior to daily food production.

  • To assist chef in the preparation and cooking of meals and in the chef’s absence work with catering team to ensure food production for clients over weekends and during chef’s annual leave as assigned by catering team leader.

  • Provide front of house function which will include setting up, clearing down of service counter and food service to our clients.

  • To assist in cash duties – this involves covering the till and taking cash in and doing end of day cash reconciliation and recording of same for team leader in accordance with cash handling procedures.

  • Provide cover for wash up and maintain a supply of clean crockery and utensils for clients & kitchen.

  • Provide cover when ad hoc functions and events arise throughout the calendar year as a support to other projects such as fundraising.

  • To maintain a hygienic kitchen in accordance with IS340. This also includes record keeping such as temperature control records and cleaning schedule records.

  • To maintain the highest standards in both personal and operational hygiene.

  • To ensure a quality service for our clients and understand the role catering plays in supporting the overall objective of the project to provide high quality nutritional food in a safe and supportive environment. All the while understanding the high needs of our customers and displaying empathy even at times of high stress.

  • To avail of training both mandatory and aspirational as laid down by focus Ireland’s policy and as designated by up line management.

  • To be vigilant to any Health, Safety and Welfare risks in the workplace and bring any concerns to the attention of your line manager or Health & Safety Representative.

What you will need:

  • Catering and Cooking Experience

  • HACCP Trained

  • Excellent Team Player

  • Good Communicator

  • Empathy and understanding regarding the needs of our client group

Ideally:

  • Experience working in a similar environment in the Homeless sector.

  • Full clean driving Licence.
