
Drinkaware is seeking to hire an experienced and ambitious Digital Media & Communications Officer who will support and add value to the day-to-day delivery of the charity’s core programmes, by ensuring their efficiency and efficacy. They will report directly into the Director of Communications and will also liaise closely with both the Education & Research workstreams. The successful candidate will be part of a team supporting the creation of an effective multi-disciplinary communications programme, that is core to the organisation’s day-to-day work and overall strategic efficacy and impact. The ideal candidate will have a passion for public health, be a driven, energetic and creative individual with excellent writing skills and the ability to convey complex messages to a wide variety of audiences. The position will be in a support capacity and will have a key role to play in the delivery of Drinkaware’s strategic plan 2022-2024. Drinkaware is an equal opportunities employer. The Digital Media & Communications Officer will be responsible for a range of activities and supports within Drinkaware: Role & Responsibilities:
Leverage Drinkaware’s digital capability to support in the creation of creative campaigns that use digital to empower the public to develop healthy attitudes and behaviours regarding alcohol
Work cross-functionally to develop best practices and promote communications consistency
Provide communications support for Drinkaware events including webinars and live broadcasts
Co-ordinating & assisting with external suppliers’ agreements and relationships
Monitor & produce regular relevant progress reports to management
Administrative support
Support for other teams when required.
This role encompasses a wide variety of communications work, some of the key focus areas include: Digital media:
Co-ordination with external agencies
Content creation & dissemination
Regular website updates
Co-ordination of Drinkaware’s social media channels
Newsletters, creative responsibility, creation & dissemination
Monitoring, reporting, evaluation and strategic review of content
Traditional media:
Engagement with media
Pro-active, engaging press releases on topical issues of relevance to the strategic goals of the charity
Monitoring of media landscape

Two years’ experience in a communications or related role
Excellent communication skills including the ability to gather complex concepts and translate them into engaging content
Strong writing and editorial skills, with great accuracy and attention to detail
Knowledge of the social media landscape, content creation and best practice
Knowledge of Google Analytics, WordPress/ comparable CMS system
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues at all levels and enthuse others about the work of Drinkaware
Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Desirable Experience in the following applications: Mail Chimp, Survey Monkey, Eventbrite, Salesforce. Person Specification

Location: 13 Merrion Square North, Dublin 2, with a hybrid working model. Terms: This is a full-time position 35 hours per week. A two-year fixed term contract with a six-month probationary period will be offered to the successful applicant. The post may involve travel within Ireland & on occasion, requires working unsocial hours (evenings and occasional weekends for events and conferences).
