
Position: Clerical Officer
Salary: €25,353 - €41,500

Job Summary
The duties shall be such clerical/administrative as may be assigned to the employee from time to time by the Local Authority and shall include the duty of deputising for other employees of the Local Authority, when required, and such duties as may be assigned to him/her in relation to the area of any other Local Authority. MAIN ACTIVITIES/TASKS: 1. Preparation of salaries and wages. 2. Processing and payment of accounts. 3. The processing and examination of various claims. 4. Issuing of licences. 5. Preparation of input material for computers. 6. Keeping of personnel records and returns. 7. Providing secretarial services. 8. Dealing with the public by telephone or at the counter. 9. Handling of incoming mail and dealing with routine queries. 10. Preparing documents for meetings. 11. Handling cash. 12. Filing, photocopying and faxing. 13. P.C. Work. 14. Preparation of statistical and other data. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, REQUIREMENTS ETC. Each candidate must, on the latest date for receipt of completed application forms: 3.1 have obtained at least Grade D (or a Pass), in Higher or Ordinary Level in five subjects from the approved list of subjects in the Department of Education Established Leaving Certificate Examination or Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme or a pass Leaving Certificate Applied, OR have passed an examination of at least equivalent standard, OR have at least two years previous service in the post of Clerical Officer, Clerk/Typist (Clerical Duties), Clerk Typist (Typing and Clerical Duties) or Clerk/Typist under a Local Authority, or Health Board in the State, OR have satisfactory relevant experience which encompasses demonstrable equivalent skills.
