
The Irish Gerontological Society (IGS) is currently looking for a self-employed administrator to work with the President and its’ Executive Committee whose mission is to promote the experience of ageing through advocating and promoting excellence in issues and practices that are important to the well-being, health, support and care of older adults. An administrator is required to provide a range of services on a contract basis that will assist this dynamic charity with its membership databases, event management, conference organisation and ensure continued productive working relationships with its sponsors. The role requires an individual with a high level of communications experience, excellent interpersonal skills, strong organisational and event and conference management skills, social media and technology skills, a collaborative working style, and the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines. Proficiency in the English language is essential. A Third Level qualification is desirable. The candidate must be based in Ireland. A list of the tasks, duties and responsibilities for the role include:
Provide administrative support to IGS;
Managing the communications of IGS in association with the President of IGS to maintain and raise the profile of the charity;
Organise all event management both virtual and in person and pre and post event duties;
Organise the annual scientific meeting in collaboration with the IGS Scientific Committee and pre and post conference duties;
Manage all PR related activities, including creation of press releases and react to events occurring in global media;
Key contact for members, sponsors and donations and monitoring of same;
Ongoing promotion of membership;
Managing the newly revamped IGS website, continually updating with news of events open to the public and for members;
Managing the different social media channels and the operational aspects of the different social media platforms.
